Seven nights a week

You will not eat
dinner alone.

La Redonda is a party hostel and has never pretended otherwise. There is something on every night, all of it free, all of it run by people who arrived here as guests.

If you are travelling alone, the hard part is rarely the travelling. It is the first evening in a new town, where everybody else already seems to know somebody. The week here exists to make that evening about forty minutes long.

Monday is volleyball on the sand at sunset. Wednesday is a bonfire on the beach. Friday is karaoke, Saturday is a beer pong tournament with more ceremony than it deserves, and Sunday everybody cooks and eats at one table. Nothing costs extra, nothing is compulsory, and nobody is keeping score.

Monday to Sunday

The week

Run by the staff and the volunteers, most of whom arrived as guests.

  1. MondayToday

    Beach volleyball

Volleyball on the sand at sunset, and a great deal of laughing at how bad everyone is.

  2. TuesdayToday

    Music quiz

Test what you actually know, sing the rest of it, and meet the people at the next table.

  3. WednesdayToday

    Beach bonfire

Fire, music and the sea in the dark. The night most people describe when they get home.

  4. ThursdayToday

    Latin rhythms

A dance class that turns into a dance. Nobody has ever been the worst one there for long.

  5. FridayToday

    Karaoke

A microphone, a room full of strangers, and by the end of it no strangers.

  6. SaturdayToday

    Beer pong

A tournament, a bracket, and far more ceremony than the game deserves.

  7. SundayToday

    Family dinner

Everyone cooks, everyone eats, everyone washes something. The week closes at one long table.

The honest part

It is a party hostel.
Here is the rest of it.

A party hostel is not for everyone, and pretending otherwise just means unhappy guests. There is noise on the good nights. The dorms are mixed. The bar is in the house.

And: the kitchen is open until eleven, breakfast is at a table in the morning, there are hammocks and a rooftop for the days after, and the two private cabins exist precisely so you can close a door. Guests have left 1,613 reviews averaging 4.8 — plenty of them from people who came for the surf and stayed for the quiet bits.

“For my Mexican and foreign friends: this place is special because it lets you meet a lot of people. The activities they put on in the evenings and the atmosphere make the whole experience better. The location is excellent and the people looking after it — the volunteers and the staff — are super friendly and good company. And for a small amount you can add breakfast, which does you a favour during the day because the town is on the expensive side. Definitely one of the best hostels I have stayed in.”

“I’ve stayed at La Redonda several times and always had a great experience. The vibe is cool, the staff is friendly & the two owners, Lu and Anna, are very nice & helpful. The hostel is really clean, thanks to Carmen! Yes it is a party hostel, but it is so much more. I built some generous and real connections there that will last forever. The rooms are clean, have AC & all the basics like curtains. It’s in the heart of Sayulita so everything is max. 10min walking distance. Highly recommended!”

“The place is warm and beautiful, and everybody was kind and lovely. From the first contact there is a feeling of calm and friendliness. There are fun activities and everyone makes you feel part of it. The karaoke was the best (congratulations to the girl from Florida who sang Lady Gaga's Alejandro). Breakfast was delicious and filling and I felt welcome the whole time. Thank you for such an excellent place. ✨🤙🌊”

Good to know

Is it noisy at night?

On the big nights, yes — Wednesday and Saturday especially. The private cabins are a door away from it, and the smaller dorms are quieter than the ten-bed rooms.

I am travelling alone. Is that fine?

It is the most common way people arrive here. The programme exists for exactly that, and the volunteers’ job on the night is largely to make sure nobody is standing on their own.

Do I have to join in?

No. Turning up to one thing all week and reading in a hammock for the rest of it is a completely normal stay.

Is there an age limit?

The crowd skews backpacker — twenties and thirties, mostly — but the door is not on an age. The booking system will tell you the policy for minors.
