A surf camp is usually a week you buy in one go, in advance, from a website that will not tell you the price. Ours is the same three things, booked separately: a bed with breakfast, a board from $6 a day, and the trip from $25 whenever you want to go further than the end of the street. Put your dates in and you can add the whole thing up yourself.
That means a five-day week costs what five days cost, a fortnight costs what a fortnight costs, and the day you decide the surf is not worth it and the hammock is, you have not paid for a session you did not take.
Trips run subject to the swell and to enough people wanting to go. What a given morning includes — which break, how long, whether a board comes with it — is confirmed at reception the evening before, because promising it a month in advance from a website would be making it up.
3 nights
The long weekend
Enough to get wet, sleep badly, and book more nights on the second morning.
- Dorm bed, breakfast in
- Board for three days
- One surf trip
7 nights
The week
The usual. Long enough that standing up stops being an accident.
- Dorm bed or private cabin
- Board all week
- Two or three trips, swell depending
- Every night of the week’s programme
14 nights or more
The stay-a-little-longer
The people who do this are the ones still in the photos a year later.
- Longer stays are priced better — the booking system shows it
- Board for the fortnight
- Trips whenever the swell is worth it
- Ask us about the volunteer programme
These are how people actually put a stay together here, not products with a checkout of their own. Book the nights online; add the board and the trips at reception when you arrive, and pay for the days you use.
Good to know
Do lessons come with it?
No — we rent boards and run the trip, and we will happily put you in touch with an instructor in town. We would rather say that plainly than sell you a lesson we are not the ones teaching.
Do I have to book the whole package in advance?
Only the bed. Boards and trips are arranged at reception once you are here, which is also when you will know what the swell is doing.
Is this suitable for a complete beginner?
Yes. The wave at the end of the street is where most of Sayulita learned, and a soft-top from the hostel is the right board for the first week.
While you are here

surf camp.
Not a fixed-week package with a price you have to ask about. Three parts, each with a published price, put together however long you are staying.
