Work exchange
Stay longer.
Much longer.
We are always looking for people to join the team — sociable, energetic, and genuinely happy in a party hostel, because that is what this is.
Volunteering here is the reason a lot of people’s two weeks in Sayulita turned into three months. You get a bed, breakfast and the run of the place; the hostel gets somebody who makes sure the person who checked in alone at six is not eating alone at nine.
It is real work — reception, the bar, the activities, keeping the house standing — and it is 27 hours of it a week, with two days off to actually surf. The minimum is four weeks, because it takes about two before you stop being new.
What you get
- A bed in a shared dorm
- Breakfast, every morning
- Free use of the surfboards
- A place on the surf trips, at no cost
- The fully equipped kitchen
- Two black coffees a day
What we ask
- A minimum stay of four weeks
- 27 hours a week, with two days off
- Enough English or Spanish to make a guest feel welcome
- That you actually like a party hostel — this one is loud on a Wednesday
Tell us about you
Good to know
How long is the minimum stay?
Four weeks. Shorter than that and you would spend most of it learning where things are.
How many hours a week?
27 hours, with two days off. The shifts move around — reception, the bar, the evening’s activity — so the days off are not always the same two.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
It helps enormously, and plenty of volunteers arrive without it. English is the working language of the dorm; Spanish is the working language of the town.
Is the bed private?
It is a bed in a shared dorm, like everybody else’s.
When should I write?
A month or two before you want to arrive is about right. Tell us your dates, how long you can stay and what you are good at.
